Gospel of Mark

The adult class meets at 9:20 a.m. on Sunday mornings – Having considered sayings in the Gospel of Thomas, we will move from the final segment of our ‘Heretic or Friends: the gospels of Judas, Mary and Thomas’ to a study of Mark’s Passion Narrative during Lent. While many of the sayings preserved in Thomas appear unique and ‘different,’ many sayings have real and discernible parallels in the Gospels of the New Testament – but a huge difference exists in that Thomas does not contain a ‘passion story.’  Does that make a difference in ‘who Christ is?’ for the early church and for us?’ – you be the judge!  We will use Marcus Borg and J.D. Crossan’s book The Last Week as our study guide. Discussion and study begins at 9:25 a.m. on Sunday mornings.

Class begins at 9:20 a.m. on Sunday mornings--meeting in our classroom space in the 'West Wing.' Please join us whenever you can--each presentation is 'self-contained'-so you can join the discussion at any time.
