“During Lent the adult class will study Jesus’ words from the Cross. Commonly referred to as ‘Jesus 7 last words” – we will draw from Gospel accounts in Matthew, Luke and John, as we consider these sayings of Jesus, noting the ways in which each Gospel writer draws on Scripture to focus his theological point. The texts are:
- “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” (Lk. 23:34)
- “Today you will be with me in paradise.” (Lk. 23:43)
- “Behold your son; behold your mother.” (Jn. 19:26-27)
- “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Mt. 27:46/Mk. 15:34)
- “I thirst.” (Jn. 19:28)
- “It is finished.” (Jn. 19:30)
- “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” (Lk. 23:46)
EYC meets regularly during the school year – Wednesday evenings from 6-8 p.m., beginning with dinner and fellowship. Meetings are hosted by St. David’s this spring.
Our youth Sunday School class (9:15 Sunday mornings) begins a study of Bible stories and activities that narrate the journey of Jesus which culminates in the Holy Week events.
A class for youngsters using ‘Godly Play’ meets at 10:30 a.m. –during our worship service – for storytelling and activities.
